For each class I’m taking, there’s a recommended reading list. Where I might find the time to read all the recommended books, I have no idea. But I did create an Amazon wish list with many of the books I would like to read at some point.
Can’t remember if I mentioned this (can’t remember a lot of things these days), but for my next design studio project I’m creating a motion representation of the book Else/Where Mapping. Dan Boyarski lent me his copy. But since it was on my wish list, I decide to buy it and a bunch of other books.
Here’s what I got:
- The Visual Display of Quantitative Information
By: Edward R. Tufte - You Are Here
By: Katharine Harmon (Editor) - Else/Where: Mapping ??????? New Cartographies of Networks and Territories
By: Janet Abrams (Editor), Peter Hall (Editor) - The Elements of Graphic Design: Space, Unity, Page Architecture, and Type
By: Alexander W. White - Thinking with Type: A Critical Guide for Designers, Writers, Editors, & Students (Design Briefs)
By: Ellen Lupton - Universal Principles of Design: 100 Ways to Enhance Usability, Influence Perception, Increase Appeal, Make Better Design Decisions, and Teach Through
By: William Lidwell, et al - Designing for Interaction: Creating Smart Applications and Clever Devices (Voices That Matter)
By: Dan Saffer
I dove into Else/Where for the current project, and I began reading Designing for Interaction. The others I may not get to until the holiday break. Some I have not yet opened their plastic covers.
