We had fun pretending to shop for digital music devices at Best Buy and Circuit City. We noticed a lot of iPod accessories, even though other devices greatly outnumbered them. The employees told us that the first question they ask customers is whether or not they want an iPod.
Interestingly, the employees in all cases steered us away from the iPod.
One Best Buy employee also said there was definitely a difference between what men and women buy. Given our focus on female commuters, this caught our attention.
He said women prefer white products, or pink, that are shiny and have rounded corners. Men tend to go with more technical-looking products that seem durable and are not rounded.
