Although Microsoft announced in June 2003 that it would no longer update Internet Explorer for the Mac, the new year marks the end of IE Mac support. And as of January 31, 2006, you will not be able to download IE Mac from Microsoft’s site. (Thank god!)

I was looking to download a copy so I could test a site I’m building. But considering the text on Microsoft’s site, that’s it. I’m done with IE Mac. I will no longer consider it.

And for the odd client that might be using IE Mac, I will simply point them to Microsoft’s recommendation “that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple’s Safari.”

Internet Explorer 7 is now in beta testing for developers.

They require you to sign up to test it. At the moment, that’s enough of an obstacle to prevent me from checking it out. But perhaps when I have more time…
